Days of Polish Film in Ukraine

Days of Polish Film in Ukraine was inaugurated in the capital of Kiev with Krzysztof Zanussi’s Polish-Ukrainian feature A Warm Heart (Serce na dłoni).

 

The director, who was the festival’s honorary guest, received the Order of Jaroslav the Wise, one of the country’s highest state distinctions, from President Viktor Yushchenko.

During the week-long festival, 13 films were screened including Sweet Rush (Tatarak) by Andrzej Wajda, Four Nights with Anna (Cztery noce z Anną) by Jerzy Skolimowski, 33 Scenes from Life (33 sceny z życia) by Małgorzata Szumowska and Scratch (Rysa) by Michał Rosa.

The festival included a retrospective of Zanussi works in honour of his 70th birthday.

It was the fourth time viewers in Kiev, Lviv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia got a chance to see the newest Polish films.
The organisers of Days of Polish Film in Ukraine are the Polish Institute in Kiev, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in cooperation with the Polish Film Institute and the Ukrainian Film Foundation.
