The Polish-German co-production entitled "Scars", directed by Agnieszka Zwiefka, has been selected by the organisers of the Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival for the "Work in Progress" presentation, which will take place as part of the 71st edition of the International Cannes Festival.
The presentation of the "Work in Progress" films, which will include Agnieszka Zwiefka's film "Scars", will take place on 12 May 2018. The event will be attended by representatives of sales agents, local distributors and festivals from around the world.
"Scars" presents a former female guerrilla fighter and ideologist from the Tamil Tigers liberation movement in Sri Lanka, who risks her life to return to the island to meet with her former comrades from the civil war in order to tell their story.
This is the latest initiative by the Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival to promote Polish documentary films abroad under the Doc Alliance initiative - a partnership of seven European documentary film festivals.
The aim of the Doc Alliance initiative is to advance the documentary genre, support its diversity and continuously promote quality creative documentary films.
The creative partnership of seven key documentary film festivals in Europe (CPH:DOX in Copenhagen, Doclisboa, Millennium Docs Against Gravity, DOK Leipzig, FID Marseille, the IDFF in Jihlava and Visions du Réel in Nyon) will see 7 selected projects presented in Cannes to leading figures from the documentary film industry from around the world.
