Latest Film by Director Krzysztof Zanussi Supported by the Polish Film Institute

According to the website of the film’s producer, Studio Filmowe TOR, “Foreign Body is a Polish-Russian-Italian co-production directed by Krzysztof Zanussi. The author of Camouflage returns to the essence of his auteur cinema. He raises questions about the most important matters and provokes to debate. He brings up the most current issue of the place of God in public space. Krzysztof Zanussi carefully observes the division of Poland into the Catholic and the laic, [exposing] the protagonist to two very different world views. He confronts two systems of values identified by [the film’s] two female characters: Kate and Kris.”

Ida, a film directed by Paweł Pawlikowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the FIPRESCI Jury Award in the Special Presentations section of the 38th Toronto International Film Festival. Past editions of the festival have featured a number of Polish films in their lineup; films that screened in Toronto include Sponsoring (Elles) by Małgorzata Szumowska, Róża (Rosa) by Wojciech Smarzowski, Imagine by Andrzej Jakimowski, and Chrzest (The Christening) by Marcin Wrona.
