Grand Prix for "Solo" by Maciej Pisarek at Festival in Montreal

A documentary film by Maciej Pisarek, Solo, was awarded the Grand Prize at the 27th International Festival of Films on Art in Montreal. This is the most important festival of its kind in the world.

The experimental film is a portrayal of the life of Bogusław Schaeffer, an outstanding 20th century Polish artist who was an author of numerous plays, a composer, a pioneer in electronic music and a graphic artist. The film is an attempt to show the essence of his creative activities – a comprehensive, avant-garde and multimedia artist who aims for the absolute.

The film was produced by Quartet Company and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

At the festival, the film Piotr Anderszewski – podróżujący fortepian (Piotr Anderszewski – Travelling Piano) by Bruno Monsaingeon was honoured with the prize in the “Best Portrait” category. Produced by Idéal Audience and Ozumi Films, the documentaries were co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
