THE POLISH FILM INSTITUTE HAS SECURED EU FUNDING FOR DIGITISING FILMS

The Polish Film Institute has managed to secure EU funding for the digital restoration of the archives of Polish cinema. Over the next three years, Polish cinema will be almost entirely digitised.

160 feature films, thousands of newsreels and documentary films

The amount of financing is over 78 million PLN. Thanks to funding in the Polska Cyfrowa programme, the Polish Film Institute in cooperation with film studios will digitise, secure and make available to audiences a total of 160 feature films, as well as thousands of newsreels and documentary films. Over the next three years, Polish cinema will be almost entirely digitised.

The project “Digital restoration of Polish feature, documentary and animated films to allow access in all areas of distribution (cinema, television, online, mobile devices) and preservation of Polish cinema heritage for future generations” within the framework of the Polska Cyfrowa 2014-2020 programme will be implemented by the Polish Film Institute and the following film studios:

4. Wytwórnia Filmów Dokumentalnych i Fabularnych
5. Studio Filmów Rysunkowych
6. Studio Filmowe Kronika
7. Studio Miniatur Filmowych
