"Immensity of Justice" ("Bezmiar sprawiedliwości") named Best Film at the Polish Film Festival in Moscow

Immensity of Justice (Bezmiar sprawiedliwości), a film directed by Wiesław Saniewski, received the White Elephant – a Special Prize of the Guild of Russian Film Scholars and Critics – at the second Wisła Polish Film Festival in Moscow.

 

A Special Award for Honorary Lifetime Achievement was given to Danuta Szaflarska, the star of Time to Die (Pora umierać) by Dorota Kędzierzawska, which was shown during the festival.

The Public Award was given to Maciej Wojtyszko who directed Louise’s Garden (Ogród Luizy).

A total of 18 films were screened at the festival, which opened April 9 with the showing of Tricks (Sztuczki) by Andrzej Jakimowski at the famous Moscow Art Theatre. Other films included Four Nights with Anna (Cztery noce z Anną) by Jerzy Skolimowski, Immensity of Justice (Bezmiar sprawiedliwości) by Wiesław Saniewski, Lejdis (Ladies) by Andrzej Saramonowicz and Tomasz Konecki, The Offsiders (Boisko bezdomnych) by Kasia Adamik, and It’s Not What You Think, Darling (To nie tak jak myślisz kotku) by Sławomir Kryński.

The festival, which ran through 15 April, was accompanied by cultural events, lectures, meetings with authors and actors and aroused great interest among Russian viewers. The Polish Film Institute was one of the co-organisers.
