Jack Strong is a spy movie based on a true story. Colonel Ryszard Kukliński, a high-ranking officer in the Polish army, privy to the most classified operations of the Warsaw Pact, decides to become a CIA asset, thus turning into a crucial (albeit invisible) actor of the Cold War. From 1971 to 1981, Kukliński provided the West with over 40,000 pages of classified documents, including plans for introducing martial law in Poland. The screenplay was written based on never-before-seen documents from the archives of the Institute of National Remembrance, CIA documents, and interviews with witnesses, including David Forden, Kukliński's CIA handler.
Jack Strong is the latest project from director Władysław Pasikowski, author of such films as Pokłosie (Aftermath), Psy, and Operacja Samum. The film was produced by Scorpio Studio, and co-produced by Vue Movie Distribution (formerly known as ITI Cinema), Orange Polska, and Tauron Polska Energia. The film was lensed by Magdalena Górka, and scored by Jan Duszyński. Jack Strong was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
The film stars Marcin Dorociński, with supporting performances by Maja Ostaszewska, Zbigniew Zamachowski, Patrick Wilson, Dagmara Domińczyk, Krzysztof Globisz, and Krzysztof Pieczyński.
