Largest Showcase of Polish Cinema in Beijing

A special showcase of Polish cinema will be part of the 5th Beijing International Film Festival. The Polish Film Institute has co-financed the participation of Polish films in this festival.

The festival’s ‘Focus on Polska’ section features eight films selected by Martin Scorsese for his “Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema” project. The showcase of latest Polish films will include such titles as Miasto 44 (Warsaw 44) by Jan Komasa, Serce, serduszko (The Heart and the Sweetheart) by Jan Jakub Kolski, and Ida by Paweł Pawlikowski.

Festival Guests

Polish filmmakers Krzysztof Zanussi and Jan Komasa and director of the Warsaw International Film Festival Stefan Laudyn are among guests invited to participate in this year’s edition of the festival.

Presentation of Eastern European Projects in Beijing

One of the industry events at the festival will be the CentEast market — a joint initiative of the Warsaw Film Foundation, the Beijing Film Market, and Film Factory. The programme is aimed at fostering long-term networking between Chinese and European film professionals. The selection of ten projects includes two Polish titles: Demon by Marcin Wrona and Warsaw by Night by Natalia Koryncka-Gruz.

The 5th Beijing Film Festival runs from April 16 through April 23, 2015.
