New Polish Film Festival Filmland Polen in Germany

The 6th New Polish Film Festival Filmland Polen 2008 is in progress. Films are being presented in Hannover, Hamburg, Lübeck and Bremen.

As in previous years, several feature, short, documentary and animated films will be presented every month in communal cinemas in Hannover, Hamburg, Lübeck and Bremen from April to December.

Along with Katyń, viewers will also see Tricks (Sztuczki) by Andrzej Jakimowski, Extras (Statyści) by Michał Kwieciński, Louise’s Garden (Ogród Luizy) by Maciej Wojtyszko, and All Will Be Well (Wszystko będzie dobrze) by Tomasz Wiszniewski. There will also be representatives of young Polish cinematography, including Rezerwat by Łukasz Palkowski.

During the festival, meetings will be held with Jerzy Stuhr, Łukasz Palkowski, Sonia Bohosiewicz, Marcin Kwaśny, and Andrzej Jakimowski.

To honour the 60th anniversary of Polish animation, the festival scheduled two special events. The first one is a full retrospective of films by Alexander Sroczyński, the classical author of Polish animation, who lives in the USA and who will meet with the viewers in all festival cities (the co-organiser is the New Horizons Association). The second is a Filmland Polen event for Children: film and art workshops prepared in cooperation with the Polish Filmmakers Association.

Filmland Polen Festiwal 2008 is organised by Deutch-Polnisches FilmForum e.V. Hannover, under the patronage of the Polish Embassy in Berlin, the Polish Consulate General in Hamburg and the Polish Film Institute.
