Ninth Polish Film Days in Ukraine

A selection of Polish films made in the past four years will screen from April 10 through April 16 in six Ukrainian cities (and April 10 through April 19 in Kiev).

Lineup Includes Films Supported by the Polish Film Institute

Audiences in six Ukrainian cities – Kiev, Vinnytsia, Simferopol, Donetsk, Odessa and Kharkov – will have an opportunity to see a selection of Polish films on the big screen. The festival lineup features a wide selection of films, including Wałęsa. Człowiek z nadziei (Wałęsa. Man of Hope) by Andrzej Wajda (the film’s screenwriter Janusz Głowacki will be a guest at the film’s special screening in Kiev), W imię… (In the Name Of…) by Małgorzata Szumowska, Układ zamknięty (Closed Circuit) by Ryszard Bugajski, Uwikłanie by Jacek Bromski, Miłość (Loving) by Sławomir Fabicki, Drogówka (The Traffic Department) by Wojciech Smarzowski, and Mistyfikacja (The Deception) by Jacek Koprowicz.

Films by Roman Polański

On April 18 and 19, audiences in Kiev will also have an opportunity to see a selection of Roman Polański’s student films: Morderstwo (Murder), Rozbijemy zabawę (Break Up the Dance), Uśmiech zębiczny (Teeth Smile), Lampa (The Lamp), Dwaj ludzie z szafą (Two Men and a Wardrobe), and Gdy spadają anioły (When Angels Fall). The festival will also feature a screening of Roman Polański’s short film Ssaki (Mammals) and Andrzej Wajda’s Zemsta (The Revenge), where Polański played the role of Papkin. This retrospective of films by Roman Polański entitled “Polański Unknown” will close the ninth Polish Film Days in Ukraine.
