Nasza klątwa (Our Curse), a documentary directed by Tomasz Śliwiński and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, has been nominated for the IDA Award, the most prestigious award in the world of documentary filmmaking, awarded by the International Documentary Association.

Nasza klątwa (Our Curse) Among Five Nominated Short Films

On October 29, the International Documentary Association announced the nominees in the 30th edition of the IDA Award. This year Nasza klątwa (Our Curse) is the only Polish documentary in the running. The film has been nominated in the short film category.

Nasza klątwa (Our Curse)

Tomasz Śliwiński’s Nasza klątwa (Our Curse) is a personal statement of the director about the battle he and his wife must endure as they face the rare and incurable disease of their newborn child – CCHS or congenital central hypoventilation syndrome, also known as Ondine’s Curse. The film portrays the process of coming to terms with the fear that accompanies this disease, and slowly adapting to the new circumstances. Produced at the Warsaw Film School, this student film has previously received acclaim at film festivals in Lisbon, Sheffield, Aspen, Monterrey, Olten, and London. Nasza klątwa (Our Curse) has also been shortlisted for the Academy Award® in the Documentary Short Subject category, along with another Polish documentary – Joanna by Aneta Kopacz.
