Over 215 thousand viewers watched Za niebieskimi drzwiami (Behind The Blue Door) – film for young viewers co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Za niebieskimi drzwiami (Behind the Blue Door) 

The story of eleven-year-old Łukasz whose mother is in a coma as a result of the injuries she suffered in a car accident. The boy goes to live in foster care at a seaside resort with an aunt he never met. Łukasz misses his mother and finds it difficult to adapt to the new circumstances. Feeling lonely, he desperately wants to get away from the place where he doesn’t feel at home. He accidentally discovers that the blue door in the building leads to a fairy tale world; a world that at first appears very friendly but, as Łukasz will soon learn, is so only up to a certain point.

Za niebieskimi drzwiami (Behind the Blue Door) was released theatrically in Poland on Novmber 4, 2016. So far it’s drawn the audience of more than 215 thousand and is the most successful Polish movie for young viewers.

This film was appreciated by critics and jurors of international festivals. The jury of the 34. Ale Kino! International Young Audience Film Festival awarded it the Ale Kino! Debut prize for the best debut. The movie was also recognized with an honorary distinction by the SKSiL (The chains of art houses and local movie-theatres) “for a brilliant debut in the challenging category of live action movies for young viewers” at International Film Festival for Children “In the clouds”.
