Film is a perverse, black comedy about a man who feels happy only when he is unhappy. Addicted to compassion, he will do anything to arouse it in others. The premiere of Babis Makridis’s second film took place at the Sundance festival. The film was made as a Greek-Polish co-production. The Polish premiere took place at the New Horizons festival. The heroes of Babis Makridis – once a nameless driver (L) who lives in the car, now also a name-deprived lawyer – are middle-aged men. It is hard to find a better moment for a nervous breakdown. The grim Yannis Drakopoulos, who received the films of Aki Kaurismäki and Buster Keaton from the director before the production of “Pity”, does not part with the mourner’s face, playing the father of promising pianist and husband of woman in a coma. One day, however, the wife wakes up and everything turns upside down. Frosted muffins from the caring neighbor stop to come, no one sends glances  full  of pity, and the real tragedy turns out to be lack of reasons to worry. Makridis and screenwriter Efthymis Filippou portray a man for whom compassion works like a drug. Worse, his need for eternal discontent does not harmonize with his surroundings. From the window of the apartment there is a view of the silver beach, the azure sky and a lonely palm tree in the middle. The film is a Greek-Polish comedy-drama / black comedy.
