Polish animated films appeal to viewers in Cairo

A retrospective of doll films created by Se-Ma-For in Łódź was screened during Polish Day at the 19th Cairo International Film Festival for Children.

Krzysztof Brzozowski and Andrzej Jasiewicz presented films and their history during a meeting with viewers, and Cairo Television showed a programme devoted to Polish doll film. The films were received with enthusiasm by the youngest viewers in the chamber hall of the Cairo Opera. The biggest hit was the film Kwartecik produced in 1966 by Edward Sturlis with music by Jerzy Matuszkiewicz.

Krzysztof Brzozowski held workshops on doll films for young animators. Their films will be included in the festival’s “Kids to Kids” programme. Meetings in Cairo with Polish doll film professionals were the part of the programme “Polish Cinema for Young Audience” organised by the Polish Filmmakers Association and co-financed by Polish Film Institute.
