Polish Cinema a special guest at Mecal

Viewers saw over 50 Polish films at the 11th International Short Film Festival of Barcelona (Mecal), including acknowledged artists such as Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polański, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Jerzy Skolimowski.

 

During Mecal, which was held from 27 March to 5 April, Polish films were presented in three sections: “Poland” which featured Behind the fence (Za płotem) by Marcin Sauter, and Emily Cries (Emilka płacze) by Rafał Kapeliński; “Film School in Łódź” with Melodrama (Melodramat) by Filip Marczewski; and “Great Polish Directors” – school études by Krzysztof Kieślowski, Andrzej Wajda, Jerzy Skolimowski and Zbigniew Rybczyński. A special section was devoted to short films by Roman Polański.

Two Polish films were presented in the festival’s main competition: A Story Of A Missing Car (Historia braku samochodu) by Grzegorz Jaroszuk, and Echo by Mangus von Horn.

The Public Award was given to the short documentary Zietek (Ziętek) by Bartosz Blaschke.
