PFI AWARD FOR THE PRODUCERS OF THE LAST FAMILY
On 16 October 2016 at the closing gala of the 32nd Warsaw Film Festival, General Director of the Polish Film Institute Magdalena Sroka presented the first-ever award of the Polish Film Institute for the producer of the best film presented at the festival’s Warsaw Screenings. The award went to Leszek Bodzak and Aneta Hickinbotham, producers of Ostatnia Rodzina (The Last Family), a film directed by Jan P. Matuszyński.
Ostatnia Rodzina (The Last Family) Wins Polish Film Institute Award
“The award of the Polish Film Institute for best film presented at the Warsaw Screenings goes to Leszek Bodzak and Aneta Hickinbotham producers of Ostatnia Rodzina (The Last Family), a film that has received multiple accolades since its recent premiere,” said Magdalena Sroka, General Director of the Polish Film Institute.
“Thank you for this award. I would like to thank my entire crew: Aneta Hickinbotham, Jan Matuszyński, Robert Bolesto, our wonderful actors, and everyone who spent the past two years working hard on The Last Family. This film changed our lives. I am very happy to be able to accept this award from the hands of Magdalena Sroka,” said the film’s producer Leszek Bodzak.
20,000 PLN Cash Prize
The Polish Film Institute has funded a 20,000 PLN cash prize for best Polish film presented at the Warsaw Screenings. The 30th edition of the Warsaw Screenings, which ran from October 14 through October 16, 2016, featured a selection of new Polish films, including majority and minority co-productions. The winner was selected by international guests attending the Warsaw Screenings.

Warsaw Screenings
Warsaw Screenings have been organised annually since 2000 in two annual sessions, one in summer and one in autumn. It is Poland’s oldest showcase of Polish films for international distributors, sales agents, and festival programmers. The 30th edition of Warsaw Screenings was held within the framework of the 12th CentEast film market.
Screening Dedicated to Andrzej Wajda and Andrzej Żuławski
The closing gala was followed by a screening of The Odyssey, a film by Jérôme Salle. Lambert Wilson, who played one of the leads, was present at the screening. In his long acting career, Wilson has worked with Polish directors, including Andrzej Wajda, Andrzej Żuławski, and Janusz Kijowski. Lambert Wilson dedicated the screening to Andrzej Wajda and Andrzej Żuławski, two Polish directors who passed away this year.
