POLISH FILMS IN THE RUNNING FOR 2017 EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS

Four feature films supported by the Polish films are in the running for nominations for the European Film Awards. The European Film Academy has announced a list of 51 films competing for these prestigious awards.

Nominations to be announced on November 4

On August 22 the European Film Academy published a list of feature films in the running for nominations for the European Film Awards. Among a total of 51 titles, four films have been supported by the Polish Film Institute:

  • Powidoki (Afterimage), directed by Andrzej Wajda;
  • Pokot (Spoor), directed by Agnieszka Holland;
  • Ostatnia rodzina (The Last Family), directed by Jan P. Matuszyński;
  • Szron (Frost), directed by Sharunas Bartas    

In the next few weeks, over 3000 members of the European Film Academy will select candidates for nominations on the following categories: Best European Film, Best European Director, Best European Actor, Best European Actress, and Best European Screenwriter.

Nominations for the European Film Awards will be announced on November 4 at the Seville International Film Festival. Nominations in the categories of cinematography, editing, production design, costume design, music and sound will be selected by a separate jury.

The 30th European Film Awards ceremony will be held on December 9 in Berlin.
