Polish films in the Running for 2016 EFA Nominations

Five Polish films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute are in the running for nominations for the 2016 European Film Awards.

Nominations to be announced on November 5

On August 23, 2016 the European Film Academy announced the list of feature fiction films which will be competing for the nominations. Among 50 titles 5 are Polish films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute:

  • Zjednoczone Stany Miłości (United States od Love), dir. Tomasz Wasilewski
  • Córki dancingu (The Lure), dir. Agnieszka Smoczyńska
  • Obce niebo (Strange Heaven), dir. Dariusz Gajewski
  • Świat (Ausma), dir. Laila Pakalnina (DOP Wojciech Staroń)
  • Ja, Olga Hepnarova (I, Olga Hepnarova), dir. Tomáš Weinreb, Petr Kazda

In the coming weeks, the over 3,000 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the nominations in the categories: European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenwriter. The nominations will then be announced on November 5 at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain. A 7-member jury will decide on the awards recipients in the categories: European Cinematographer, Editor, Production Designer, Costume Designer, Hair & Make-up Artist, Composer and Sound Designer.

The 29th European Film Awards ceremony will be held on December 10 in Wrocław.
