"SOMETHING BETTER TO COME" NOMINATED FOR PGA AWARDS

Nadejdą lepsze czasy (Something Better to Come), a documentary film directed by Hanna Polak and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, is one of five films nominated for the awards of the Producers Guild of America (PGA).

In addition to Hanna Polak’s latest work, the list of this year’s nominees includes the following titles:

  •   Amy, directed by Asif Kapadia;
  •    The Hunting Ground, directed by Kirby Dick;
  •    Meru, directed by Jimmy Chin, Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi;
  •    The Look of Silence, directed by Joshua Oppenheimer.

The winning film will be announced at the PGA Awards ceremony on January 23, 2016.

The awards of the Producers Guild of America have been presented annually since 1990, with a category for feature-length documentaries added in 2008. Award winners in previous years include Michael Moore for Sicko, Simon Chinn for Man on Wire, and Malik Bendjelloul for Searching for Sugar Man.

Nadejdą lepsze czasy (Something Better to Come) Coming Soon to Polish Cinemas

 Hanna Polak’s latest documentary, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, has to date received awards at a number of film festivals in Poland and abroad, including Moscow, Trieste, Zagreb, Geneva, Madrid, La Valletta, and Hot Springs.

The project was first presented at the first edition of Docs to go!, a joint project of the Polish Film Institute and the Krakow Film Foundation. Also in 2012, the film received the East Doc Platform Award for Best Presentation at the East European Forum.

Nadejdą lepsze czasy (Something Better to Come) premiered at Amsterdam’s IDFA, winning the Special Jury Prize in Main Competition.

The film will be release theatrically in Poland on November 27. Distribution in Poland is handled by Against Gravity.
