Wołanie (The Calling), a Polish-French co-production directed by Marcin Dudziak will screen in the Bright Future section of the 44th Rotterdam International Film Festival. The Rotterdam screening will mark the film’s international premiere.
A Debut Film from a Young Filmmaker
Wołanie (The Calling) is the story of “a father-and-son rafting trip down a mountain river […]. A measured, poetic [story] about the unique moment in this boy’s life when something intangible yet somehow anticipated reveals its meaning. The boy’s curiosity and desire for new experiences grow stronger than his fear of a world he does not fully grasp,” reads the film description on the website of the 15th T-Mobile New Horizons IFF, where the film had its world premiere.
Bright Future
Marcin Dudziak’s feature will screen in Rotterdam’s Bright Future section, dedicated to promoting new talents, first- and second-time directors. Alongside 25 premiere films in this section, Wołanie (The Calling) will be in the running for the FIPRESCI award, presented annually in Rotterdam since 1990. Last year’s Bright Future lineup included Małe stłuczki (Little Crushes), a film directed by Aleksandra Gowin and Ireneusz Grzyb and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
