"THE RAIN" WITH AN AWARD IN ANNECY

Co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, the animation “Rain” by Piotr Milczarek was appreciated at the 43rd Animated Film Festival in Annecy.

Festival in Annecy is one of the most prestigious animated films festivals in the world. The festival is accompanied by an international animation fair (MIFA) – one of the main events of this type in the world.

“The Rain” with a prize for debut

Piotr Milczarek’s film won the Jean-Luc Xiberras award for the best debut in the short film competition.

The “Rain” is a simple animated film on collective consciousness. It talks about how no accountability for our actions pushes us to thoughtlessly follow the crowd, which may lead to a tragedy. The film also depicts a struggle of an individual with collective hypnosis and its consequences for both the individual and the crowd.

Production: Fumi Studio (Piotr Furmankiewicz and Mateusz Michalak).

In the near future the movie will be available to watch, among others on Intimate Summer and Animator.

Other Polish films in Annecy

Two other Polish animations “Acid Rain” by Tomek Popakul and “Story” by Jola Bańkowska also took part in the short film competition. In the student film competition, the animated films “You are overreacting” by Karina Paciorkowska, “Ovule” by Natalia Durszewicz and “The Little Soul” by Barbara Rupik were shown.

In the Big Sleep section, there is the film “Year” by Małgorzata Bosek-Serafińska, devoted to the memory of Marek Serafiński, director and producer of animation, privately the director’s husband.

The representatives of the Polish animation industry were present at the MIFA fair accompanying the festival. On a special stand, among others, the so-called “Incentives” were promoted, available for producers since recently.
