"The War Has Ended" wins at Berlinale Co-Production Market





The Eurimages Co-Production Development Award for the best project presented at the Berlinale Co-Production Market went to the creators of “The War Has Ended” (dir. Hagar Ben-Asher), whose main producer is Madants (Poland), and co-producers are Match Factory Productions (Germany) and Transfax (Israel). The project also received the ARTE International Prize.

Two Awards for “The War Has Ended”

“The War Has Ended” was one of 21 projects presented at the Berlin market. The Eurimages Co-Production Development Award was awarded by a jury composed of Csaba Bereczki (representative of Eurimages) and Doreen Boonekamp (head of the Dutch Film Fund). The prize was a project grant worth 20,000 euros, funded by Eurimages. “The War Has Ended” also received the ARTE International Prize in the amount of 6,000 euros for the outstanding artistic project presented at the Berlinale Co-Production Market.

In February 2017, the project “The War Has Ended” by Israeli director Hagar Ben-Asher received co-financing for development from the Polish-German Film Fund. Pitching for the film took place during Polish Days 2017, where the creators won the award from ColorOffOn Film, and the Polish producer running the project, Beata Rzeźniczek from the company Madants, received an EAVE scholarship.

“The War Has Ended” is the story of young Lilly who, just after the Second World War, accompanies a mysterious puppeteer in search of his missing son.

Berlinale Co-Production Market

This is a unique opportunity for producers to present their projects and establish business contacts, with around 550 international producers, sales agents, distributors, representatives of film funds and broadcasters participating in the fair every year.
