Polish films fight for European Film...

Two Polish productions, 33 Scenes from Life (33 sceny z życia) by Małgorzata Szumowska and Tatarak (Sweet Rush) by Andrzej Wajda, are on the list of 48 films competing for the European Film Awards.

This year’s awards by members of the European Film Academy will be presented on 12 December in Bochum, Germany.

The film 33 Scenes from Life is one of the most-awarded films to come out of Poland recently. Among its achievements is winning the Silver Leopard, the Special Jury Award at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2008.

Andrzej Wajda was awarded for Sweet Rush at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2009. He captured the Alfred Bauer Award, which is given for films that open new perspectives in the art of filmmaking.
