Wasilewski's New Project in Rotterdam

The 43rd Rotterdam International Film Festival, scheduled to run from January 22 through February 2), has announced its list of 25 projects selected for the CineMart co-production market. The market will feature films from around the world, one of which will be Zjednoczone Stany Miłości (United States of Love), the latest project by Tomasz Wasilewski.

Presenting Projects in Development

Next to Berlin’s Co-Production Market and Cannes’ L’Atelier, CineMart is one of the world’s most prestigious places to showcase projects in development. Each year, many film projects launch their international career in Rotterdam, months before their official world premiere. Participants at recent editions of CineMart included Jacek Borcuch [Nieulotne (Lasting), CineMart 2011], Abbas Kiarostami, Sophie Fiennes, Cristi Puiu, and Amat Escalante. Participating in CineMart allows filmmakers to present their projects to some of the most influential spheres in the world of filmmaking and to find international co-producers for their project.

The Latest Film from the Author of Płynące wieżowce (Floating Skyscrapers) and W sypialni (In a Bedroom)

Tomasz Wasilewski has been nominated for a 2013 Paszport “Polityki” Award. His features W sypialni (In a Bedroom; 2012) and Płynące wieżowce (Floating Skyscrapers; 2013) screened and received acclaim at multiple festivals, including the Audience Award for Płynące wieżowce (Floating Skyscrapers) at the 13th T-Mobile New Horizons IFF in Wrocław. Floating Skyscrapers also won the East of the West competition in Karlovy Vary, and screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

Tomasz Wasilewski said in an interview that his new project Zjednoczone Stany Miłości (United States of Love) will be “a portrait of women in the time immediately after the fall of communism in Poland.”
