Wojcieszek's "Secret" at Berlinale

Przemysław Wojcieszek’s feature Sekret (Secret) will screen in the Forum section of the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival. The film received support from the Polish Film Institute.
38 Films in Forum Lineup
The main Forum lineup, screening this year for the 42nd time, features 38 films. Przemysław Wojcieszek’s Secret will screen alongside films from Japan, Sweden, Israel, the United States, the Philippines, France, Canada, Turkey, Austria, and Russia. For 26 of these films, including Secret, the Berlin screening will mark their world premiere. The motto of this year’s Forum is ‘Everyday Life and Fantasy’. Third Film by Wojcieszek to Screen in Forum
Secret is the third film by director Przemysław Wojcieszek to screen in Berlin’s Forum section. Last year’s edition featured his Made in Poland, while the director himself took part in the “Covering Cinema: Critics Meet Filmmakers” meeting at Berlinale Talent Campus. In 2006, Berlin’s Forum featured his earlier film Doskonałe popołudnie (A Perfect Afternoon).
Sekret (Secret)
This psychological drama focuses on the story of a 30-year-old drag queen who learns that his grandfather, to whom he owes his happy childhood, had murdered a Jewish family trying to return to their home at the end of the Second World War. The lead parts were played by Tomasz Tyndyk and Agnieszka Podsiadlik. The film was lensed by Jakub Kijowski.
Secret was produced by Dynamo Karuzela, and co-produced and distributed by the New Horizons Association.
The 62nd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, which runs from February 9 through February 19, 2012, will also feature Sponsoring (Elles), the latest film by Małgorzata Szumowska. This film was also co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
