World premieres of "Katyń" by Andrzej Wajda

Premieres of the Oscar nominee Katyń by Andrzej Wajda will be held throughout the summer at international festivals around the world. On 29 June a screening will take place in St. Petersburg.

 

Katyń, nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film, was received with enthusiasm at festivals in Dublin, Berlin, Miami, Istanbul, Mumbai, Washington, New York, Seattle, and Seoul. It was presented at gala shows which attracted a lot of viewers and media.

On 29 June the film will be shown during a closing gala at the Festival of Festivals International Film Festival in St. Petersburg. For the representatives of the film industry at this huge event in Russia, this will be the first presentation of Katyń.

On 8 July a ceremonial premiere of the film will be held at the 43rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in Czech Republic.

A premiere in Israel will take place during that country’s biggest film event, the Jerusalem Film Festival which is celebrating its 25th year. The festival programme will include two films co-produced by TVP (Polish Television): Time to Die (Pora umierać) by Dorota Kędzierzawska and Arka by Grzegorz Jonkajtys. The premiere of Katyń will be a part of celebrations connected with Polish Year in Israel.

Later, Katyń will be shown during the biggest film summer event in Ireland, at Galway Film Fleadh.
Its Australian première will take place at the 57th Melbourne International Film Festival (25 July-10 August), and then Katyń will be presented at the next big Australian film event, the Brisbane International Film Festival (31 July-10 August). In Brisbane, the film Kizi Mizi by Mariusz Wilczyński will also be shown.

The Katyń summer of premieres will end at the biggest event in Scandinavia, the Espoo Ciné Film Festival (19-24 August).
