On March 9 we visited the set of Ukryci (Hidden) – the latest feature project directed by Agnieszka Holland and Kasia Adamik. The film, based on a script by David F. Shamoon, is a co-production between Poland, Germany, and Canada.

Hidden is a story set during the Second World War. It is about a group of Jews who escaped from the Lvov ghetto and were later hiding in sewer canals. They received help from a Polish man named Leopold Socha (played by Robert Więckiewicz).

Filming began in January, and the first scenes were shot in Germany – in Berlin and Leipzig. Then in March the crew moved to Poland. Shooting continued in various locations, such as Modlin, the Old Town in Warsaw, and Łódź (including the underground canals of the Łódka river).

The script is partly based on “In the Sewers of Lvov”, written by Robert Marshall.

Hidden is expected to be released theatrically in 2011.

The film is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Below are photos taken on set in Warsaw and Modlin.
