"Out of Reach" Awarded in Kiev

The documentary Poza zasięgiem (Out of Reach) by Jakub Stożek received the award of the Ukrainian Filmmakers Association at the Docudays UA film festival in Kiev.

Docudays UA is a festival dedicated to documentary films that focus on human rights. The project is aimed at promoting open dialogue about moral issues within societies.

Out of Reach is the story of two teenaged girls who grew up without a mother, making their own way through life and learning to be self-reliant, responsible, and courageous. They make the remarkably mature decision to try to reach their mother and rebuild the family bond.

The Docudays competition also featured Praca maszyn, directed by Maciej Mądracki, Michał Mądracki, and Gilles Lepore.

Polish documentaries also screened out of competition. Audiences could see two films by Marcin Koszałka – Ucieknijmy od niej (Let’s Run Away from Her) and Do bólu (Till It Hurts), Pomału (Slowly) by Tomasz Wolski, Rogers – The Puppeteer by Krzysztof Kiziewicz, The Invisible by Katarzyna Gondek, Wycieczka by Bartosz Kruhlik, Do dna by Maciej Głowiński, Apostata by Bartosz Tryzna, and Gugara by Andrzej Dybczak and Jacek Nagłowski.
