Planete+ Doc Film Festival in Cannes

The Planete+ Doc Film Festival will present three new Polish documentary films at the Cannes festival film market.

Promoting Polish Documentary Films

The Cannes International Film Festival has invited the Planete+ Doc Film Festival to present a selection of three documentary films representative of the style of films screened at Planete+. The Cannes festival market will thus feature three new Polish documentaries: Abu Haraz by Maciej Drygas, Sztuka znikania (The Art of Disappearing) by Bartosz Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski, and Fuck For Forest by Michał Marczak. The Polish premieres of Abu Haraz and Sztuka znikania (The Art of Disappearing) will take place in May at the 10th Planete+ Doc Film Festival.

Doc Alliance in Cannes

The presentation of Polish documentary films stems from the presence of the Doc Alliance federation of documentary film festivals at the Cannes IFF. Doc Alliance is a joint initiative of seven European documentary film festivals: CPH:DOX in Copenhagen, Dok Leipzig, the Jihlava IDFF, Planete+ Doc Film Festival, FID Marseille, Visions du Réel in Nyon, and Doclisboa.

Fuck For Forest in Competition

One of the joint efforts of the Doc Alliance is a documentary film competition; its winners are announced in May during the Cannes film festival. Three best films selected by the Doc Alliance programmers will also screen at this year’s 10th Planete+ Doc Film Festival. The Polish programmer of the Doc Alliance competition is Tomasz Raczek. One of the seven films submitted by the seven Doc Alliance festivals is Michał Marczak’s Fuck For Forest.

Tenth Edition of Planete+ Doc Supported by the Polish Film Institute

The 10th edition of the Planete+ Doc Film Festival will run from May 10 through May 19 in Warsaw’s Kinoteka and Iluzjon cinemas, and from May 12 through May 19 at the Dolnośląskie Centrum Filmowe (DCF) in Wrocław, where a selection of approximately 50 films will be screened. Screenings will be accompanied by Q&A sessions, panel discussions, exhibitions, and concerts. The ‘Planete+ Doc Film Festival Weekend’ (May 17-19) will also bring the festival to art-house cinemas in 20 cities across Poland. The festival will also have its own online edition; the iplex.pl online cinema will allow audiences to watch a selection of films from previous editions of the festival free of charge.

The 10th edition of the Planete+ Doc festival is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
