Polish animation awarded at the SXSW Film Festival

„Your Own Bullshit” by Daria Kopiec received a Special Jury Recognition for Storytelling in Animated Shorts Competition at the South by Southwest Film Festival. The animation is co-financed by Polish Film Institute.

Together with the Sundance event, Austin’s South by South West (SXSW) is one of the most significant independent cinema events in the US. In addition to film screenings, intermedia activities and the music stage both constitute very important element of the festival. There are also meetings and discussion panels for cinema fans.

This year edition of the event took place online from March 16 till 20. Only 12 productions were invited to the international competition for the best animated short, including two films from Poland. Besides Daria Kopiec’s award-winning film, the audience had the opportunity to watch Yelyzaveta Pysmak’s „My Fat Arse and I”. The film plot

This short animation by Daria Kopiec has been already awarded Silver Lajkonik at the Cracow Film Festival. It was also presented at the Warsaw Film Festival, as well as Cork International Film Festival in Ireland.

It is an intimate family story. There is nothing better than family dinner. Even if it looks like a looped scenario, which is replaying forever. Even except for the food there is need to swallow words of our relatives. Sometimes bitter. Sometimes so recurrent that you want to vommit. Recited easily from many long years.
