Polish Documentaries in Stockholm

Joanna by Aneta Kopacz and Ojciec i syn (Father and Son) by Paweł Łoziński, two documentary films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, are featured in the lineup of the Tempo festival, which runs from March 4 through March 9, 2014 in Stockholm.

Two Polish films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute will screen in the festival’s Top Docs section, which showcases documentary films that received acclaim at other international film festivals.

Ojciec i syn (Father and Son)

Marcel and Paweł Łoziński, a father-and-son duo of acclaimed documentary filmmakers, set off on a road trip across Europe. For the father, the trip is about a return to his birthplace. For the son, it is an attempt at coming to terms with their common past. Both try to capture this difficult dialogue on camera. Ojciec i syn (Father and Son) was produced by Paweł Łoziński Produkcja Filmowa. The film has received top laurels in Moscow, Minsk, and received the Silver Horn award for Best Feature Documentary Film at the 53rd Krakow Film Festival. Ojciec i syn (Father and Son) was also among the projects presented at the first edition of Docs to go!

Produced at Wajda Studio, Aneta Kopacz’s Joanna tells the story of cancer patient Joanna who blogs about her everyday struggle in a simple and blunt manner. She loves life. She loves it despite her disease and despite the death sentence it implies. The film has received awards at film festivals in Poland and abroad, including the Planete+ Doc festival, Jihlava, Leipzig, and Los Angeles.
