POLISH EDITOR WINS EUROPEAN FILM AWARD
Jacek Drosio received the European Film Academy’s award for European Editor 2015 for his work on Body/Ciało (Body), a film directed by Małgorzata Szumowska and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

On December 12, 2015 in Berlin was held 28th European Film Awards ceremony. The award of European Editor 2015 went to Jacek Drosio for his work on Małgorzata Szumowska’s Body/Ciało (Body).

Jacek Drosio
Jacek Drosio (born 1965) is a film editor and producer. He worked as editor on films by Małgorzata Szumowska – Body/Ciało (Body), W imię… (In the Name Of…), Sponsoring (Elles), 33 sceny z życia (33 Scenes from Life), Ono (Stranger), and Szczęśliwy człowiek (Happy Man). Winner of the Eagle award (Polish Film Award) for Best Editor in 2008 for his work on 33 sceny z życia (33 Scenes from Life). Worked as cinematographer on documentaries A czego tu się bać and Mój tata Maciek. Edited over 20 Polish features. Drosio is one of the producers and founders of production company NOWHERE, which produced multiple award winning Body/Ciało (Body) (awards include the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 65th Berlin IFF). As producer, he received several key film awards in Poland (40th Gdynia Film Festival, PKO OFF Camera).
First European Film Award for Polish Editor
Jacek Drosio is the first Polish editor to receive the European Film Award.
Recent years have brought several European Film Awards for films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
In 2014, the makers of Ida received the European Film Awards in the following categories: Best European Film, Best European Director (Paweł Pawlikowski), Best European Screenwriter (Paweł Pawlikowski and Rebecca Lenkiewicz), and Best European Cinematographer (Łukasz Żal and Ryszard Lenczewski). Ida also received the People’s Choice Award.
In 2013, the award for European Animated Feature Film went to Ari Folman for his film The Congress, an international co-production with Polish involvement.
In 2010, the award for European Short Film went to Katarzyna Klimkiewicz for her short feature Hanoi-Warszawa (Hanoi-Warsaw).
In 2009, European Film Award winners included Marcel Łoziński for his film Poste restante (European Short Film) and Andrzej Wajda (FIPRESCI prize).
Body/Ciało (Body)

A cynical prosecutor and his anorectic daughter are both trying, each in their own way, to deal with the death of a loved one. One day, the girl’s therapist Anna announces that their deceased relative has contacted her from the beyond and has a message for them; this forces both father and daughter to reevaluate their views of life and death.
The screenplay for Body/Ciało (Body) was written by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert, who also lensed the film. The film stars Janusz Gajos, Justyna Suwała and Maja Ostaszewska, with supporting performances by Tomasz Ziętek, Ewa Dałkowska, Adam Woronowicz, and Małgorzata Hajewska-Krzysztofik. Body/Ciało (Body) was produced by NOWHERE, co-produced by Kino Świat, D35 and the Warsaw Mazovia Film Fund, and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. World sales are handled by Memento Films International.
Body/Ciało (Body) had its world premiere at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival, where the film screened in Main Competition. Małgorzata Szumowska received the Silver Bear Award for Best Director. Body/Ciało (Body) has also received awards at the Let’s CEE Festival in Vienna, as well as in Brussels, Dortmund, Peru, Vilnius, and Malta.
