The Polish coming-of-age story set in the 1980s will be shown in the International Competition section of the festival. It will compete for the main award, the Golden Tulip, against ten other features, among which are biopics of acclaimed musicians: John Lennon (Nowhere Boy by Sam Taylor Wood) and Serge Gainsbourg (Gainsbourg. Vie héroïque by Joann Sfar).

This year’s international competition jury members are: actor Klaus Maria Brandauer (president of the jury), director and screenwriter Anders Refn, producer Tom Luddy, actress Anamaria Marinca, and director Jasmila Zbanic.

The Istanbul International Film Festival takes place annually since 1982. Initially it was presented as part of the Film Week, but since 1984 it has been a separate event.
