Polish Film Wins Audience Award

The Audience Award for Best Film in Tampere (Finland) went to Łukasz Ostalski, author of the short film Matka (Mother). The film screened in International Competition at the 43rd Tampere International Short Film Festival in Finland.

Matka (Mother) Wins Audience Award

Ostalski’s short film won the festival’s Audience Award. “I am very happy, especially since this was the only festival where I submitted my film; you could say this was its world premiere,” as tvn24.pl quoted the young filmmaker. In 2012, Łukasz Ostalski graduated from the Gdynia Film School. Matka (Mother) was his graduation film.

Polish Films in Tampere

4,500 films were submitted to this year’s Tampere competition section. The final selection consisted of 65 titles. Poland marked an exceptionally high presence this year, with a total of four short films screening in competition. The Tampere festival, organized annually since 1969, is one of Europe’s top short film festivals. Every year, festival audiences can enjoy over 500 films in the festival’s Finnish and international section. Filmmakers awarded at previous editions of the Tampere Film Festival include Marcin Koszałka (2011) and Paweł Ferdek (2009).
