About the Festival

Since the festival’s launch in 1998, Guanajuato IFF has been organized annually in the last week of July in two cities: San Miguel do Allende and Guanajuato. The festival is a not-for-profit event, charging no admissions. The festival also features an annual International Pitching Market. In 2008, Guanajuato IFF started a partnership with the Cannes festival’s Cinéfondation Résidence. This partnership has spawned the MexiCannes Summer Residence Program – a development platform for selected talented young filmmakers. Every year features a spotlight on a different country. Last year Guanajuato International Film Festival featured a special spotlight on Poland.
