Polish Films at 2014 RIFF

Several Polish films are featured in the competition lineup of the 13th edition of the Rome Independent Film Festival (RIFF), which runs from March 16 through March 23, 2014.

Polish Films in Competition

The lineup of this year’s international feature film competition features Dziewczyna z szafy (The Girl from the Wardrobe), a film directed by Bodo Kox and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. Another Polish item in the festival lineup is Smutne potwory (Sad Monsters), a film by Justyna Fotel, screening in the festival’s Students Shorts section, dedicated to short student films. Last year’s edition of the Rome Independent Film Festival screened Bejbi Blues (Baby Blues) by Katarzyna Rosłaniec and Ptasiek by Ewa Kochańska.

RIFF

The Rome Independent Film Festival has been organized annually since 2000 and is the largest event of its kind in Italy. The goal of the festival is to promote the world’s best independent films. Competition entries in the festival’s various categories compete not only for cash awards; winning films later have theatrical distribution in Italian cinemas, while their creators receive filmmaking equipment and an option to post-produce their next project in professional film studios. Fabrizio Ferrari, director and creator of the festival, was one of the guests at the 36th edition of the Gdynia Film Festival.
