Polish Films at Beijing IFF

Mój rower (My Father’s Bike) by Piotr Trzaskalski and Supermarket by Maciej Żak, two films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, will screen at the 3rd Beijing International Film Festival, which runs from April 15 through April 23, 2013.

Both Mój rower (My Father’s Bike) and Supermarket will screen at the 3rd Beijing International Film Festival in the Film Panorama section.

Mój Rower (My Father’s Bike)

The latest comedy-drama feature by Piotr Trzaskalski is an unconventional guide to the world of men. The leading roles were played by Michał Urbaniak, Artur Żmijewski and Krzysztof Chodorowski, with supporting performances by Witold Dębicki, Anna Nehrebecka, Piotr Szczepanik, and Marcin Tyrol. The script was written by Piotr Trzaskalski and Wojciech Lepianka, and the film was lensed by DP Piotr Śliskowski. Mój rower (My Father’s Bike) was produced by Federico Film and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Awards at Film Festivals in Poland and Abroad

Piotr Trzaskalski’s latest feature My Father’s Bike premiered at the 37th Gdynia Film Festival, screening in Main Competition. The film received the award for Best Screenplay, the Award of Polish Film Festivals Abroad, and the Golden Kangaroo award of Australian film distributors. My Father’s Bike also screened in Main Competition at the 20th Plus Camerimage Film Festival, and screened in France, the United Kingdom and Ireland. The film also won the Polish Film Festival in America, ad received recognition at the Listapad festival in Minsk. Michał Urbaniak received the Best Actor award at the Tallinn International Film Festival. The film was released in Polish cinemas on November 16, 2012, with distribution handled by ITI Cinema.

Supermarket

Supermarket is a thriller directed by Maciej Żak, produced by St. Lazare Film Studio, and co-produced by Cezar 10 Sp. z o.o., The Chimney Pot, Panavision Polska, Dreamsound, and Luks Film. The film was lensed by Jan Holoubek and features performances by Marian Dziędziel, Izabela Kuna, Tomasz Sapryk, Wojciech Zieliński, and Przemysław Bluszcz. Supermarket was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

 

The Polish premiere of Supermarket took place at the 37th Gdynia Film Festival, where the film screened in Main Competition. For his performance as Jaśmiński, Marian Dziędziel received the Best Foreign Actor award at the 49th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in Turkey. The film was released in Polish cinemas on December 28, 2012, with distribution handled by ITI Cinema.
