Polish Films at Jameson Dublin IFF

The twelfth edition of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, Ireland’s largest film event, will run from February 13 through February 23. The festival’s lineup of 135 films features a number of Polish titles.

Official Selection: International

The festival’s Official Selection: International section will showcase a number of films from around the world, including several films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. These include Ida by Paweł Pawlikowski, The Congress by Ari Folman, Nieulotne (Lasting) by Jacek Borcuch, and Dziewczyna z szafy (The Girl from the Wardrobe) by Bodo Kox. Outside the official selection, the Jameson Dublin IFF lineup will also screen Chce się żyć (Life Feels Good) by Maciej Pieprzyca; lead actor Dawid Ogrodnik will be a guest at the festival. Also in the festival lineup is Finsterworld by Frauke Finsterwalder, a film starring Polish actor Jakub Gierszał.

European Film Festival Networking Event

February 19 at the Jameson Dublin IFF will feature a networking event for representatives of European film festivals. Panelists include Anna Trzebiatowska, representing the Off Plus Camera festival. The event will also be attended by representatives of such events as the Reykjavik International Film Festival and Copenhagen’s CPH:PIX.

Polish Films in JDIFF Lineup

The past few editions of the Jameson Dublin International FF screened a number of Polish films. Last year’s edition of the festival featured four Polish productions: W sypialni (In a Bedroom) by Tomasz Wasilewski, Obława (Manhunt) by Marcin Krzyształowicz, Pokłosie (Aftermath) by Władysław Pasikowski, and 80 milionów (80 Million) by Waldemar Krzystek. In 2012, Dublin audiences had an opportunity to see W ciemności (In Darkness) by Agnieszka Holland, Wymyk (Courage) by Greg Zglinski, Kret (The Mole) by Rafael Lewandowski, Sponsoring (Elles) by Małgorzata Szumowska, and Droga na drugą stronę (Crulic – The Path to Beyond) by Anca Damian. The 2011 edition of JDIFF featured Essential Killing by Jerzy Skolimowski, Chrzest (The Christening) by Marcin Wrona, Erratum by Marek Lechki, and Matka Teresa od kotów (Mother Teresa of Cats) by Paweł Sala. Guests at past editions of the festival included Agnieszka Holland and Andrzej Żuławski.
