Polish Films at SXSW Festival

Imagine by Andrzej Jakimowski and Fuck For Forest by Michał Marczak, both co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, will screen at the US-based SXSW Film Festival, which runs from March 8 through March 16, 2013.

Imagine and Fuck For Forest in SXSW Lineup

The lineup of this year’s edition of the SXSW Film Festival features two Polish films. The feature film Imagine by Andrzej Jakimowski will screen in the ‘Festival Favourites’ section, while the documentary Fuck For Forest by Michał Marczak will screen in the ‘Visions’ section of the festival, which focuses on innovative, creative and bold films, both narrative and documentary.

American Festival of World Cinema

The SXSW Film Conference and Festival has been organized annually since 1994. It is one of the parts of the South by Southwest Festival in Austin (Texas), along with SXSW Music and SXSW Interactive. The festival lineup features film screenings, as well as Q&A sessions with actors, directors and producers.

Films Supported by the Polish Film Institute at Previous Editions of SXSW

In 2011, the SXSW Festival lineup featured two Polish films: Beats of Freedom – Zew wolności (Beats of Freedom) by Leszek Gnoiński and Wojciech Słota, and Jeż Jerzy (Jeż Jerzy: The Movie), directed by Wojtek Wawszczyk, Jakub Tarkowski and Tomasz Leśniak, and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. In 2012, the festival lineup featured two Polish films, both co-financed by the Polish Film Institute: Droga na drugą stronę (Crulic – The Path to Beyond) by Anca Damian and Konkurs (The Contest) by Jakub Cuman.

 

The SXSW Film Festival runs from March 8 through March 16, 2013.
