Polish Films at the 30th Haifa IFF

The lineup of the 30th Haifa International Film Festival, which runs from October 9 through October 18, includes several Polish films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Polish Films in the Festival Lineup

The Haifa festival’s ‘East of the West’ section will feature Kamienie na szaniec (Stones for the Rampart) by Robert Gliński, Serce, serduszko (The Heart and the Sweetheart) by Jan Jakub Kolski, and Obietnica (The Word) by Anna Kazejak. The Fedeora Filmmakers of Tomorrow Competition features Ida by Paweł Pawlikowski. Festival audiences will also have an opportunity to see Samuel, a documentary directed by Jan Kidawa-Błoński.

Polish Day

On October 13, 2014, the Haifa IFF will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Polish Film Institute with a special ‘Polish Day.’ This event will feature special screenings of all five Polish films in the festival lineup. Directors Robert Gliński and Jan Kidawa-Błoński. There will also be a special industry meeting dedicated to co-production and cooperation opportunities between Poland and Israel. Panelists will include Tomasz Dąbrowski (Film Commission Poland), Joanna Wendorff-Østergaard (Polish Film Institute), Jan Kwieciński (Akson Studio), Agnieszka Kurzydło (MD4), and Joanna Łapińska (T-Mobile New Horizons).

The Haifa International Film Festival is Israel’s largest film event, showcasing the world’s most interesting and most acclaimed films, as well as the classics of world cinema. Every year, the festival features almost 300 screenings of films from seventy countries around the world.
