Polish Films at the 31st Torino FF

November 22 marks the launch of the 31st edition of the Torino International Film Festival. The festival lineup features several films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Festa Mobile

The out-of-competition Festa Mobile section of the festival showcases films that previously screened at other international film festivals; this year’s lineup features two films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute: Paweł Pawlikowski’s Ida and Wojciech Smarzowski’s Drogówka (Traffic Department). The latter film will also screen in the Europop section of the festival, which showcases top box office hits from various European countries.

Torino FilmLab

The sixth edition of the Torino FilmLab filmmaking workshops features Polish projects, as well as Polish experts. One of the FilmLab’s five jury members is producer Ewa Puszczyńska (Opus Film). She will judge projects along with fellow jury members Thanos Anastopoulos (Greece), Alberto Barbera (Italy), Ada Solomon (Romania), Alec Von Bargen (USA). The Polish project presented at the Torino FilmLab is a screenplay entitled “Masakra profana”, which was previously developed at the Script&Pitch workshop. “Masakra profana” is the adaptation of a book that bears the same title; the project is being developed by director-screenwriter Kristoffer Rus together with the author of the original novel Jarosław Stawirej.

One of twelve projects presented in the AdaptLab section, dedicated to screenwriters focusing on adapted screenplays, is “Except for the Dog”, a project by Oriana Kujawska.
