Polish Films at Zlin Film Festival

Several Polish films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute will screen at the 53rd International Film Festival for Children and Youth, which runs from May 27 through June 1, 2013 in Zlin.

Polish Films in Competition

This year’s festival lineup features six Polish films. The International Competition for Student Films will include Zniknięcie (Vanishing), a student film by Bartosz Kruhlik made at the National Film School in Łódź. The lineup of the International Competition for Animated Films for Children will feature Zajączek Parauszek (Flapper & Friends), directed by Krzysztof Brzozowski and Jacek Łechtański and produced by Se-ma-for, Mami Fatale (Mami Fatale – On Tastier Tides), directed by Marcin Wasilewski and produced by Studio Miniatur Filmowych, and Dwóch Jasiów i Małgosia (Two Hansels and Gretel), directed by Marek Burda. The International Competition for European First Films will feature Zdjęcie (The Photograph) by Maciej Adamek, while the Night Horizons section will screen Sala Samobójców (Suicide Room) by Jan Komasa.

Awards for Films Supported by the Polish Film Institute

Previous edition of the festival have brought several awards for films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. In 2010, Galerianki (Mall Girls) by Katarzyna Rosłaniec received the Award of the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic for Best Film in the Visegrad Competition. In 2007, the award for Best Full-Length European Debut went to Z odzysku (Retrieval), directed by Sławomir Fabicki.
