Polish Films in Helsinki

January 22 marks the launch of DocPoint Helsinki, one of Scandinavia’s largest documentary film festivals. This year’s lineup features several films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Masterclass and Films by Jerzy Śladkowski

The festival will feature a masterclass run by documentary filmmaker Jerzy Śladkowski. His lecture will focus on his methods of documentary filmmaking. The lineup of DocPoint Helsinki also features four of Jerzy Śladkowski’s films, including two that were co-financed by the Polish Film Institute: Fabryka wódki (Vodka Factory) and Dwa Rembranty w ogrodzie (Two Rembrandts in the Garden).

In addition to films by Jerzy Śladkowski, DocPoint Helsinki will also screen new films by Michał Marczak and Janusz Mrozowski. The “Winners and Bestsellers” section of the festival features Fuck For Forest, which won the Warsaw Film Festival. The “Der Prozess” section that focuses on documentary films dealing with court cases and prison cells will feature screenings of Bad Boy – cela dla niebezpiecznych (Bad Boy: High Security Cell). Janusz Mrozowski and Michał Pokromski, producer of Fuck For Forest, will be guests at the DocPoint Helsinki festival.
