It is worth mentioning that Essential Killing by Jerzy Skolimowski, co-finaced by the Polish Film Institute, received the festival’s grand prize (Astor de Oro) at last year’s edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival. The award for Best Actor (Astor de Plata) went to Vincent Gallo, who played the lead part in Skolimowski’s Essential Killing, portraying the Afghani refugee named Mohammed.
