Polish Films Nominated
Forty films produced or co-produced in Poland will take part in this year’s East Silver Market. Seven of these have been nominated for the Silver Eye Awards for best creative documentaries screening at the market. Among these are several films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
About the Market and Silver Eye Awards
The East Silver Market is a unique event supporting producers and distributors from Central and Eastern Europe. Organized during the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, the East Silver Market welcomes approximately 350 films from over 29 countries. The films selected for screening at the market are eligible for the Silver Eye awards. The purpose of the Silver Eye awards is to draw attention to exceptional documentary productions from Central and Eastern Europe and foster relationships with sales agents and distributors. In recent years, Polish films that have received the Silver Eye Awards include Królik po berlińsku (Rabbit a la Berlin) by Bartek Konopka, Wytnij wklej (Cut/Paste) by Rafał Samusik, Kiedyś będziemy szczęśliwi (We Will Be Happy One Day) by Paweł Wysoczański, Sceny sprzed (Previous Scenes) by Aleksandra Maciuszek, and Joanna by Aneta Kopacz.
Polish Films Nominated for the 2014 Silver Eye Awards
Seven films produced or co-produced in Poland have been nominated for this year’s Silver Eye awards. These include:
Nominees in the Short Film category (up to 30 minutes running time):
- Superjednostka, directed by Teresa Czepiec, produced by Wajda Studio;
- Odwiedziny, directed by Matej Bobrik, produced by Munk Studio – the Polish Filmmakers Association;
- Gdzie ja, directed by Arjun Talwar, produced by the Łódź Film School, Arjun Talwar (India)
Nominee in the Mid-Length Film category (between 30 and 60 minutes running time):
- Rybaczymy, directed by Maciej Głowiński, produced by Akademia Filmu i Telewizji w Warszawie
Nominees in the Feature-Length category (over 60 minutes running time):
- Deep Love, directed by Jan P. Matuszyński, produced by Cor Leonis Production, Otter Films, HBO Poland;
- Aleppo. Notatki z ciemności, directed by Wojciech Szumowski, Michał Przedlacki, produced by Studio Szumowski, TVN S.A.;
- Gottland, directed by Viera Čákanyová, Petr Hátle, Lukáš Kokeš, Klára Tasovská, Rozálie Kohoutová, produced by Nutprodukce (Czech Republic), Czech Television (Czech Republic), Bfilm, s.r.o.
