Polish Films on Empire's Top 100 List

The British film magazine Empire published a list of 100 all-time greatest feature films not in the English language. As Empire states, the list features films “from Brazil to […] France […], from Neo-Realism to Dogme to J-horror.” Among the top 100 films of world cinema are several Polish titles.

Number 14 on the list is the Trzy kolory (Three Colours) trilogy by Krzysztof Kieślowski, while number 36 is Kieślowski’s Dekalog (according to Empire, director Stanley Kubrick said that the Dekalog was the only masterpiece made in his lifetime). Number 38 is Popiół i diament (Diamonds and Ashes) by Andrzej Wajda, while Roman Polański’s Nóż w wodzie (Knife in the Water) ranked 61st. The top spot on the list is held by Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai.
