Polish presence at Marché du Film

Screenings, discussion panels and the PFI virtual stand – this is  the Polish presence at the Marché du Film in Cannes, which will last online until June 26. In addition to five films as part of New Horizons’ Polish Days Goes to Cannes, eight images will be presented as part of market screenings, including Sweat by Magnus von Horn, which appears in the official selection of the Cannes festival. Additionally,  two panels with the participation of outstanding Polish creators are organized.

Cannes film festival does not take place this year due to a coronavirus pandemic, however accompanying events were organized online. Producers On the Move, a prestigious program organized by European Film Promotion, took place from 11 to 15 May. This year Poland was represented by the producer  Marta Habior, submitted by the Polish Film Institute.

In turn, on June 3 this year, the official selection of the 73rd Cannes International Film Festival was announced. Among 56 productions was the Sweat directed by  Magnus von Horn and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. Selected films were awarded the special ‘Cannes 2020 Selection’ label, which will allow them to participate in other festivals this year, including  Venice or Toronto.

The Goes to Cannes

The Marché du Film market starts with  the program The Goes to Cannes 2020. Among the Polish films at various stages of production (works-in-progress) selected for this year’s edition  there are five titles: „Horse Tail”, „The Last Mission”, „Everyone Has a Summer”, ”Moths” and „WIKA!” – all co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. They will be presented online at the closed New Horizons’ Polish Days Goes to Cannes screenings exclusively for accredited representatives of the international film industry (festival selectors, sales agents, distributors, producers, etc.) on June 22 at 12 pm- 2pm.
