Polish Silver Eye Winners

October 26 marked the awards ceremony of the 17th Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival in the Czech Republic. Among winners of the festival’s Silver Eye Awards are several films directed by Polish filmmakers and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

This year marked the fifth edition of the Silver Eye Awards, presented annually by the Documentary Film Institute to the best films screening at the East Silver film market. The project is aimed at drawing attention to exceptional documentary works from Central and Eastern Europe, and supporting them in finding international representation and distribution. The awards are sponsored by the International Visegrad Fund and the MEDIA programme of the European Union.

Award-Winning Polish Films

Jury members Monika Mikušová, Veton Nurkollari and Donatien Pierda gave the award for Best Film in the Short Film Competition to Sceny sprzed (Previous Scenes) by Aleksandra Maciuszek. In the Mid-Length Documentary Film Competition, jury members Youn Ji, Hanka Kastelicová and Charlie Phillips awarded Joanna, a film directed by Aneta Kopacz and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. Sztuka znikania (The Art of Disappearing) by Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski received Special Mention of the Silver Eye Awards, presented by jury members Jan Daae, Elena Fortes, and Irena Taskovski.

The awards ceremony of the 17th Jihlava International Film Festival closed with a screening of Powrót Agnieszki H. (The Return of Agnieszka H.), a film directed by Krystyna Krauze and Jacek Petrycki, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
