Szumowska's Press Conference

The press conference for Sponsoring, the latest project from Małgorzata Szumowska, director of 33 sceny z życia (33 Scenes from Life), will be held on July 8 in Cologne (Köln), Germany. The conference will be attended by director Małgorzata Szumowska and lead actress, Oscar- and César-winner Juliette Binoche (the Three Colours trilogy, The English Patient).

The film’s Polish distributor is Kino Świat.

Sponsoring is an international co-production between Zentropa International Poland, Zentropa International Köln, and the French company Slot Machine. The film is shot in Paris and Cologne. Appearing alongside Juliette Binoche are: Krystyna Janda, Joanna Kulig [Środa, czwartek rano (Wednesday Thursday Morning); Milion dolarów (Million Dollars)], Andrzej Chyra, Anais Demoustier (Les Grandes Personnes), and Louis-Do Le Lencquesaing (Aux Quatre vents).

The film tells the story of Anna (Juliette Binoche) – a well-to-do journalist writing an article about prostitution among university students. While working on her piece, she meets two girls who prostitute themselves – Charlotte (Anais Demoustier) and Alicja (Joanna Kulig). They introduce her to the world of love for sale. A world that is appalling, yet at the same time – to Anna’s own surprise – somewhat appealing.
