Prix Europa: Polish Nominations

Several Polish films received nominations for the Prix Europa award for best European television, radio and online productions, which will be handed out in Berlin at the European Broadcasting Festival, which runs from October 20 through October 27. Among the nominated films are several films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Films Supported by Polish Film Institute Nominated for Prix Europa

Nominations in the television category include: Głęboka woda by Magdalena Łazarkiewicz, Kasia Adamik and Olga Chajdas; Change Please, an two documentary films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute: Wiera Gran (Vera Gran) by Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz and Lekarze (Doctors) by Tomasz Wolski.

Wiera Gran (Vera Gran)

Wiera Gran (Vera Gran) is a documentary film produced for Polish Television and directed by Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz, associate dean of the Directing Department at the National Film School in Łódź. Vera Gran focuses on the life story of a famous Jewish singer in pre-Second World War Warsaw; after the war, she was accused of collaborating with the Nazis. The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Lekarze (Doctors)

Lekarze (Doctors) is a documentary film by Tomasz Wolski, where he takes a look at the everyday work of cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists, and thoracic surgeons; Wolski examines the hierarchy in their world, the necessity of making difficult decisions, and their struggle with financial problems. The film was produced by Kijora and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
